My Story about Yelp

Posted by .

I started this blog to give people the true information about the Yelp website. When it began, it was designed to give people a place to give a review, both good and bad about a company that had done business with. As a business, I encouraged this type of information so the public could, hopefully, have a place to get some unbiased reviews of a company prior to using them.

I know about Yelp because we had a customer who gave us a bad review. We did respond to this  review and we feel that we were able to refute what the customer had to say. At that time we started to ask our shippers to post a review, which several have done. When we had a second negative review (again we responded) we doubled our efforts to ask our customers to post positive reviews.

We had eight customers that immediately posted their positive reviews. Now I see that Yelp has put all eight of our positive reviews into their “Filtered” section of the review postings. What they are saying that they do not believe that these are legitimate reviews. I hereby state that ALL eight reviews are legitimate reviews.

Next I did a search of the internet and have found that Yelp has a policy of doing this to many customers. They claim that their program algorithms will delete the reviews that it determines may not be legitimate. Does anyone believe that it would eliminate ALL positive reviews. Doesn’t it make some sense that some could be legit.

Now I am reading that Yelp salespeople are calling these companies and offering to remove the bad reviews and put the positive reviews back up from and get your star ratings to be positive. Do the search yourself and you will see this is a complaint by many companies.

Below are all eight of the reviews that Yelp Filtered from my company.

8 Filtered Reviews for Premier Van Lines International

Note: The reviews below are not factored into the business’s overall star rating.

I used this company for my move from Arizona to Maryland. I too have learned a lot from this experience. The driver (Don) and his helpers did a wonderful job with the mountain they had to deal with. Not to mention the terribly hot weather. They were very courteous and professional. We had our shipment in the time agreed upon. Art was more than fair dealing with me regarding broken items. There were only a few small items which is a testament to how well things were handled for such a long move. I cannot thank Art and his team enough for making a stressful time in my life a little less stressful.

Neena, Richard, and Yarnell!

You are all fantastic at what you do and how you do it.  I was a wreck and I am a Logistics Manager.  Each one of you was so resonsive to my questions and I knwo sometimes I asked the same one three times…
Our car arrived and Brian picked it up in Hilo last Monday.  Thank you Richard for your extra help on that one.  Not a scratch or dent on anything from all the travel.  Everyting arrived in excellent condition.  Thanks again., you al all simply terrific.

I moved to Honolulu and this was a really stressful time.  I am really thankful that Premier Van Lines was there to move me.  There pricing was honest and fair.  I had no damages and my stuff got there in the time they told me.  Their professionalism made me feel secure and nothing was lost or stolen. Thanks for everything!  I would use them again.

The employees of Premier Van Lines were very knowledgeable and helpufl. They made our relocation to Hawaii easy and painless. Lincoln Moving and Storage in Seatlle did a good job other than one of the employees constantly texting on the phone. World Wide Moving and Storage in Honolulu were fantastic, very professional & punctual. I would highly recommend Premier Van Lines & World Wide Moving and Storage of Hawaii to anyone!

I recently used Premier Van Lines International for a move from Fountain Hills, AZ to Mount Pleasant, SC.  This is a real moving company, professional and caring.  They did exactly what they said they would at the price quoted up front and delivered exactly on the date promised.  And no upfront payment.  The owner Art Haddow has been in business for over 25 years and is a class act.  He came out and did the inventory himself.  And the driver in my case, Don took charge and took care.

Moving across the country is not fun, but these folks took a lot of the headached away.  I would highly recommend Art and his team.

My stuff was just delivered. It took about 30 min to get everything off and the guys assembled the bed as well. You guys really know how to pack. Great job!!! Both teams were great, loading in ATL and off loading in SJU. The admin support by you 2 was excellent!!! The admin support by Rosa Del Monte needs a little work but overall a great experience. Thanks again for everything.

The move went very smoothly. Thank you! Both groups of movers were very courteous and worked quickly. I give the trucker 3 stars for prepared because a tow truck had to be arranged for my car while he was at my house. I don’t know why that wasn’t negotiated by him ahead of time. Also the delivery agent had to reschedule my morning delivery to the afternoon, that was frustrating. Overall I was very happy I went with Premier. The flexibility in payment options was great, and it made me feel more at ease with the move. It was awesome that Richard called the day of delivery to check in. Thanks!! Oh, and none of my stuff was lost or broken!

Finally got delivery in Hawaii. The guys were very good. It took about an hour. They said it was one of the easier delivers since all they had to do was put boxes in a couple of different rooms…no assembly and no stairs. They only had to go about 50 feet from their truck. Thanks for your help Premier. You might want to consider using them rather than the other delivery company.

Everyone needs to avoid Yelp until they clean up their website and return to be what they were supposes to be. I real review site and not a place to buy and sell reviews.

I absolutely agree with you, we have the same issue. All positive reviews are filtered, and negative still visible. Because of this we lose all of customers, since we located in San Francisco, and Yelp is really popular here. Unsatisfied customers are more likely to write negative review, than customer who really enjoyed our services.

My guess is the reason they were filtered was because the reviewers had never written another Yelp review (or just 1). When lots of 1st time reviews come on line, the filter figures that the people were asked by the owner to write a review. However, if the reviewers had some history of writing other Yelp reviews (even as little as 5 or 10), then they’d most likely be published.

I have a painting company. I started my business ad on yelp about 2 months ago. I received about 3 reviews from the customers that I worked for. All were filtered. I sent email to asked why. They did not even bothered to answer. I find out the owners are from India and not even US citizens. I’m mad that some foreigners are pocketing our money, destroying our businesses, and maybe have a good laugh too. STOP ANY RELATION WITH YELP. TALK TO EVERYBODY ABOUT THIS SHAM.

Jeremy Stoppelman CEO of Yelp is a real winner. Well, no, not really. This man runs a company that not only thrives on negative attention, but refuses to respond to legitimate concerns.

I am not sure how he can sleep at night knowing that he is running such a joke of a company.

Don’t take my word for it. See here for yourself what others are saying about this company:

If any of Yelp’s investors or advertisers are reading this, I urge you to immediately pull out of Yelp while you still can. You do not want to be associated with a company that is being run in such a reckless manner. Yelp is a company with no core values. No core – period. Like an onion. Peel away the layers, and you’ll never get to the core. I can honestly say that I do not think Yelp will be around much longer. Jeremy obviously does not care about doing the right thing. He is unethical and unprofessional.
